About Us

Founded in 1995, BlackHägen Design is a user research and product development consultancy supporting the consumer, commercial product and medical device markets. Originally a division of Black Design, an executive transportation design firm, Sean Hägen and Ted Black initiated BlackHägen Design to support clients with the need for product design and development. Philip Remedios joined the company as an additional Principal in 2002, bringing his medical device experience from a leading California product development firm.

After being located in Orlando, Florida for ten years, the firm relocated to the picturesque, seaside town of Dunedin on the north-western edge of the Tampa Bay metro area. In its new location, the studio enjoys the benefits of being central to the Central Florida Technology Corridor and Tampa’s diverse international community, while enjoying an active coastal lifestyle.
